My question is when does someone ever have the legal authority to "demand" you delete a picture. I mean perhaps a court, but that's a pretty arbitrary authority to try and impose. Anyways, I would probably just email the picture if it was really important right at the time.

Freak out your significant other. Copy and save your favorite picture device. Call them over and say, "Hey? Where did our pictures g?o" as you show them the above. Watch the look on their face turn to horror.. Prepare to run for your life.

I would say this will work when you do NOT surrender the camera. Like an annoyed passerby, a bouncer or a security guard. I'd not try this with a cop. Then it's time to go.

Short of a cop insisting I would engage in a light scuffle to keep control of my camera.

In the states nobody has the authority in public. In private I think it goes by property owner or manager. They have the authority for sure.
